Acidity As a part of human body functioning, the stomach secretes the acid that aids in the breakdown of food during digestion. But when the gastric glands of the stomach produce excessive amounts of such acids, it leads to a health condition known as acidity. Causes of Acidity In the human body stomach, intestines, and digestive glands secrete hydrochloric acid and various enzymes, including pepsin that break down and digest food. The stomach must also be protected from the same acid and enzymes, or it too can be attacked by the gastric juices. The acid may enter the lower part of the Oesophagus (Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux), due to some weakness in the normal sphincter mechanism that prevents such reflux. The common cause of acidity in the human body are :- *Due to acidic Diet *Due to toxicity & Microform Overgrowth *Due to improper Elimination & Neutralization of Acids *Due to excess of alcohol consumption *Due to consumption of highly spicy foods *Due to non-vegetarian diets in food *Due to non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. Home Remedies for Acidity #Eat a cup of vanilla ice cream or drink a glass of cold milk to get rid of acidity.Since it takes several time but it is a good home remedies. # Drink fresh mint juice every day or fresh chopped mint leaves boiled in a cup of water and sip slowly after meals. # A glass of plain milk gives good relief during the pain. # If possible drinks tender coconut water 3 to 4 times a day. # Eating water melon, banana and cucumber reduces the acidity. # Use a small piece of jaggery every hour. Just keep it in the mouth and slowly suck it till acidity subsides. # Use Cumin seeds boiled in a glass of water. # Drinking water in the early morning controls acidity, because water is a good neutralizer for acid. # Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise is an old and highly beneficial phrase. This good habit will stop and control acidity. #Use of some common medicines like aspirin or disprin should be avoided because it creates gas in stomach witch is the cause of acidity. # Sucking 10 grams of jaggery after meals will prevent acid formation.
